In the year 1894 a seventeen year old Frederick C. Philipse, a six generation Belgium diamond cutter traveled the Atlantic searching of opportunity. Frederick worked for a well in doubt South African diamond bores in New York City. At the Age of twenty eight Frederick met the love of his life Amanda Fitzpatrick from Glasgow in Central Park while designing jewelry and she was reading Shakespeare. The two developed a magical relationship and married the following spring. The two created the American Dream, a beautiful healthy family, and a family business incorporated in 1906 known as Market Street Diamonds, in New York City. The business flourished, for it was the place for the Diamond industry to go for European and Mine Brilliant cut diamonds, for Fredrick was known to be the Di Vinci of diamond cutting, an art form which was ingrained in his DNA. The business survived two world wars and the great depression, at which time Frederick and his wife decided to retire in Belgium. In 1968 Robert Thomas Kelley whom had interned with Fredrick and later developed Time Limited, LLC an exclusive horological house of fine Swiss time products and services gained interest in Market Street Diamonds and continued to offer the Diamond industry impeccable diamond cutting services. In the year 1978 the jewelry industry had changed, diamonds were being cut in mass production with a perimatic diamond cutting machine and the quartz movement has trumped over the precision and fine craftsmanship of an automatic Swiss movement, both Market Street Diamonds and Time Limited experienced a cooling off period for the demand in fine hand crafted work has shifted to mass production and outsourcing for foreign countries. Two decades later (1996) a renaissance has occurred Market Street Diamonds, and Time Limited have been resurrected solely due to the demand for quality, craftsmanship, and unique creativity which has proven to surpass generations.
